JOB TITLE: Sub Station Inspector

REPORTS TO: Field Staff Supervisor

FUNCTION: Network Operations - Eastern Region

LOCATION: Purfleet

SALARY: SG3 GBP18,684 - GBP29,621

CLOSING DATE: 6th August 2017

Job Purpose:
To work as part of a team or as a lone worker, carrying out the full range of duties associated with Substation Inspections at voltages up to 132kv.

Principal Accountabilities:
Inspection & Non Intrusive Diagnostic Testing of all plant and apparatus associated with the Distribution/Transmission network.Fault location and repair of minor plant defects associated with the Distribution/Transmission network.Ensure that all staff for which they are responsible work to the Distribution Safety Rules and to demonstrate a strong safety cultureTake Oil Samples, if required for diagnostic testing from HV Plant.Use of appropriate Hand Held IT equipmentImmediate supervision of Maintenance/Construction staff within their working party.To be prepared to assist other sections as and when required e.g. organisational changes, system emergencies etc as determined by your skills, knowledge and experience.Replace / Test the Fault Passage Indicator operation and if necessary replace the battery contained within the unitComplete the additional site visits to provide the requirements of the ESQC Regulations
Nature and Scope:
The person undertaking this role will play a vital role in the safe and timely completion of the Inspection & Maintenance Programme for the Area. The job holder may be required to work at any location within the UK Power Networks area.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

Basic Electrical Background
Flexibility and able to work in a team environment
Ability to problem solve in a practical way
Able to work under pressure
Must have a clean driving licence
Have Rail Track PTS competency (desirable)
A good understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation
Be computer literate to undertake data input onto the hand held devices
