JOB PURPOSE To support the region to drive through continuous improvement in performance, by engaging with relevant stakeholders to support regional projects that ensure the delivery of first class customer service in line with pre-defined business KPI's, that support continuous improvement in productivity and quality of service provision, to maintain business growth and best in class performance. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1 Support where required Depots that require additional support to ensure an increase in operational productivity and improved quality of service provided. 2 Provide additional resource to support Depots 3 Manage projects and work with key stakeholders as defined by the parameters of the project. 4 Increase management capability through knowledge sharing, training and support. 5 Work within cross-divisional teams to provide integrated waste solutions using best practice and through continuous improvement. 6 Support improvement of the operational systems, processes and policies to support regional growth and performance NATURE AND SCOPE First Choice for Customers: Support the managed service levels and ensuring that corrective action is taken as appropriate Drive a lean culture throughout Easy to do Business With: Support the continuous improvement of customer and service provision for the region Work closely with the company's Continuous Improvement team to introduce new working practices and to develop a continuous improvement culture Growing Profitability: Supports improving financial performance for the region by supporting continuous improvement Manages projects that driver and support improved performance, commercially and operationally. Building Pride in Biffa: Supports training needs for all staff working together with the L&D team to grow the knowledge and skills base. Coaches staff where appropriate Motivates staff through positive employee engagement through open communication Working Safely Together: Ensures that all relevant legislative requirements are adhered to and that Company procedures and standards (including Health and Safety, personnel, finance and Transport) are maintained. Where necessary making regular checks in all parts of the operation including the branch site, vehicles and customer premises and ensuring that all operational equipment is maintained Drive legislation compliance at all times by all staff PERSON SPECIFICATION Minimum GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English CPC 'A' Level/Degree IOSH Certificate Experience: Extensive experience as Operations Manager or position of similar responsibility in Services or Logistics industry People and health & safety management in a unionised environment Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPI's Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within an operational / service environment Profit & Loss experience Lean Management Understanding Experience with route planning software such as Route Monkey, DPS (LogiX) etc Technical Knowledge: Local geographical knowledge Good transport / logistics knowledge Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical service Waste industry knowledge including relevant laws Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation environment Knowledge of production management Skills and Behaviours: Strong Commercial background Experience of operational line management Experienced in people management in a Trade Union environment Experience of managing in a labour intensive, multi-shift environment In return we offer a competitive package, excellent benefits and real career progression.
