We have a new exciting opportunity at Saga Group for a Windows System Engineer to join our team based in Folkestone. You will join our team on a full time, permanent basis and will receive a competitive salary of up to £37,000 per annum.

More about the Windows System Engineer role:

The primary function for this role is to manage the deployment of patches and security updates to the Windows server estate (approx. 650 servers, 4500 PC’s) using both automated and manual patching tools. The majority of patching is to be completed between 06:00 and 08:00, with the remainder of the working day to be spent on reporting, planning and support activities related to the patching process. The hours of work may revert to 09:00 to 17:00 on days that patching can not be conducted.

Key responsibilities as our Windows System Engineer:

This position will be based in the Windows Server Support team and will manage the automatic and manual patching processes for all Windows servers. Additionally, the role will require the individual to provide technical support to the Wintel server environment where required.

Main duties will include:

- Manual patching of servers including Windows and other product updates

- Setting up and monitoring servers in the automatic patching process

- Providing support to incidents originating from the patching process

- Reporting on the status of vulnerabilities across the Windows estate and liaising with other parts of the IT team where required

Experience and skills required of our Windows System Engineer:

- An excellent level of knowledge of Windows Server 2003 - 2016 operating systems

- Good experience of using patching tools and processes, including Nessus and Shavlik\Ivanti

- A good level of knowledge of Windows Active Directory, including group policy management

- A good understanding of VMware

- Experience in using an enterprise server & application monitoring solution (e.g. SolarWinds)

- At least one of the following Microsoft certifications: MCP, MCITP, MCSE, MCSA
