My client, a leading financial and business services company is seeking a bright and spirted Financial Accountant. This is a hybrid Management / Financial Accounting role.

Position Summary:

This accountant role will be required to lead a payments processing team of 6, and need to combine this people management and operational responsibilities with that of a typical accountant role. The position is one of three accountants reporting directly into the Finance Director. It is a hands on role requiring comprehensive knowledge of traditional accounting principles and practices. The expectation is to be fully competent with all tasks performed by the other accountant and tasks vary from processing accounting records, preparing various types of tax returns, analyzing and presenting financial data, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

- Day to Day management responsibility for a team of payment clerks, providing input into department goal setting process, managing workloads & deadlines, and developing the team
- Continually assess business processes to ensure efficiency while strengthening control framework and keep documentation up to date
- Prepare, analyse & validate financial information
- Compiling and / or presenting financial reports, budgets and financial statements
- Take on full responsibility for a sector of the financial accounting work
- Tax related reporting including VAT returns, corporation tax computations, P11D's, PSAs, etc
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles

Professional Requirements/Qualifications:

- ACCA/CIMA qualified (Essential) with a minimum of 2 years' post qualify experience
- Proven experience as an Accountant
- Proven people management experience
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures
- In-depth understanding of both FRS102 and IFRS and financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Advanced Word and PowerPoint skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for number and quantitative skills
- Must have good facilitation skills and be comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment
- Experience in the financial services sector will be advantages
